Lombok remains quieter than its more developed sister Bali, retaining much of its authentic natural charm and beauty and a more sedate atmosphere.

Lombok’s neighboring Gili Islands are tiny and world renowned as a place for snorkeling and diving. Lombok forms part of the chain of the Lesser Sunda Islands and is a dream come true for nature lovers, guests who seek white sandy beaches, lush tropical forest – definitely a place to relax and unwind.

And for those who want to actively explore: Mount Rinjani, the second highest volcano in Indonesia offers spectacular hikes and trekking trails during dry season.

The local inhabitants of Lombok are called Sasak. They make up 70% of the population. Like in Bali handicraft, such as weaving and pottery, has its long and still standing tradition on the island.

Best time to visit:

Lombok is an all year destination with a very comfortable warm, tropical climate with temperature of 25 to 30 degrees. The months from May through October are dry and ‘cooler’. In November, humidity increases and from December through the end of March rain showers can be long and heavy.

How to get there:

A few years ago the long awaited international airport opened. Lombok can be reached by plane from Bali (approx. 45 minutes), neighbouring islands or even Singapore. Many guests however combine their visit with a stay on Bali. There are speed boat connections from the East (Padang Bay) which will get visitors to Sengiggi within approx. 2h. Please note that the sea can be rough, the passage bumpy.
